The MOVE IT Animations

The MOVE IT Animation project, centred in Dundee, Scotland, attracted in excess of 750 people to open competition events run by Dundee Contemporary Arts, (DCA). None of the participants had previous experience of animation although some had their own creative interests such as story writing and illustration. 251 ideas were entered for consideration from which twenty potential animators were offered master classes from industry professionals as well as mentoring from university students. Each of the twenty then pitched an idea to a panel of judges and eventually four ideas were selected as finalists. These four then went on, with the help of ink Animations, to produce their ideas as short animations. The final four pieces were aired on Channel 4 in July 2005.
